Great finds...

With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season coming to a close, it's time to get the house in order and get organized for a new year full of great possibilities.

My family lives in a turn of the (last) century home with only 2 closets in the entire house.  By necessity, we have a hanging rod in one room where we hang the pieces of clothes that can't go in drawers.  They get dusty...but then we found this...

Miriam of Minimade has these great reversible garment protectors that work really well to keep the dust off your clothes.  They are available at the shop in sets of three.  If you are unable to get into the RCC shop, you can find this item online in her etsy shop.

We found that one garment cover is large enough to go over 2 hangers if the clothing is not bulky.

The shop opens again on January 7th and as an added bonus, Remembrances pottery and Stones of Time is having 20% off their entire stock for the month of January, and Full Circle Woodworks is offering 10% off.

Feature Artist of the Month - Wintermoon Soaps

In case you missed it, we have a new soap vendor at the shop.  Welcome Wintermoon Soaps.

And as a very special treat, on Sunday October 19th from 1:00 - 2:00 she will be offering a FREE workshop on felting soaps with the purchase of a $10.00 felting kit.
If you're not a DIY-er, she has a great selection of soaps in the shop.

Great for your home, for gifts...

...and natural items for every day.  There's  big bowl of felted dryer balls (they actually do work to make your load of laundry dry faster, saving energy and money at the same time), and she has natural laundry detergent.  Can you see the label?  Just rice bran oil, borax, and washing soda.  How great is that?
Come on in to see the great selection.

Just in time for planting season

Calling all gardeners!  New to the shop this week, a wood-turned bulb planter, just in time to get those fall bulbs in.  It is marked in 1" increments, so you just insert it into the ground to the depth required for the bulb you are planting (usually indicated on the package), plunk in your bulb, and cover it up.  No more guess work!  Made by Greg of Full Circle Woodworks.

New in the shop...beautiful, beautiful quilts.

I'm hardly going to say a thing today...just going to let you admire the work.

All of these quilts are made with vintage sheets and are (or will very soon be) available at the Rural Creators' Collective.  Made by Miriam of Minimade (on Facebook and on Etsy).

(quite possibly my favourite)

MiniMade will also be at the Carlisle Country Craft and Old-Fashioned Market Mercantile in August.  Many of the other vendors, activities, games, etc can be found over here on the Pinterest board.

Father's Day Ideas all in one stop

Father's day is just around the corner.  If you still need a little inspiration, the Rural Creators' Collective has so many ideas packed into one shop.  Here are a few of my favourites:

Gorgeous rock sculptures by Christine of Stones of Time (check out her web site)
For an out of this world gift, Roger of the Carlisle Canoe has so many great pieces.

A little something for the home office...

...of for the foodie and home chef.

There is a large selection of framed lithograph prints, paintings, and photography to choose from.
Lisa of L'immaginaria on her own website and on Facebook,
Holly Ferencze on Etsy and on Facebook ,
Yvonne Parsons Photography on Facebook and on her own site.

And also a large collection of greeting cards available by the same artists.

For the morning espresso, cafe latte, or hot beverage of choice, a selection of drinking vessels of all shapes and sizes. (Natalie of Remembrances on Facebook and AtTheCrossroads on Etsy)

And don't forget downstairs...the florist has a selection of live plants and the bakery has all kinds of delicious goodness to make the day extra special.

Mother's Day is right around the corner...

I was looking something up on the calendar the other day and realized Mother's Day is coming up right shortly.  Not to worry, the Rural Creators' Collective has you covered.  Check out these amazing gift ideas that are in the store right now:

We have your traditional gifts of all things tea, (teapot cozy by Miriam of Minimade, teapot from Waylin Enterprise)

lovely hand made soaps with the most delightful scents, (Tara of On a Branch Soaps)

and of course, candles...(Remembrances)

But we also have original gift ideas.  Why not give the gift of art?
This stunning rose is by Yvonne Parsons

Brand new to the shop...lots of birds, butterflies, and bees by Marla.  Original watercolours.

You'll have to excuse the photo here, but I was trying to capture that this lithograph by Lisa of L'immaginaria is actually sparkly.

This great fabric sculpture swan is by Julie of Rustic Revivals

For the more modern tastes, I found this great architectural piece that would be perfect in a front entry...also by Julie of Rustic Revivals

For the gardeners, there is a collection of hanging planters and vases (they do actually have the ropes attached now, unlike in the photo) by Remembrances

And conveniently located downstairs is a flower shop for filling that vase or planter.

And of course we can't forget the delicious treats for mom as well, in the bakery which also happens to be conveniently located right down stairs.

Feel free to leave a comment with your Mother's Day idea.
